The birth of my daughter Helen in 2006 and my son Madoc in 2012 were the most empowering and liberating experiences of my life. Helen and Madoc’s births opened my mind to the amazing capabilities women poses to carry, labour and birth our children. I am honoured to have the opportunity to support and nurture expectant mothers, and to share my passion for birth. I believe in a woman’s innate ability to conceive, carry, labour, birth and nourish our children and feel my experience, openness, understanding and compassion will enhance the mother’s birthing experience.
My studies in Prenatal Education and Birth Doula competency began in 2007 at Douglas College. I have completed my certification as a Lamaze Prenatal Educator. I have also completed the DONA International Doula Training Program and am a DONA certified Birth Doula. In addition I have completed courses and workshops in Lamaze Teaching Skills for Prenatal Educators, and Breastfeeding practices and education.
I am a member of the Doula Services Association of BC, Lamaze International, and DONA International.
